Microdermal Piercing in Dublin

A microdermal piercing creates a single visible jewellery point using an anchor beneath the skin. Impulse Piercing's price list calls this a microdermal implant and lists it at €40 with basic jewellery included. Contact our Temple Bar studio in Dublin to discuss your proposed location, the visible top and ongoing care.

About microdermal piercing

Unlike a standard piercing with an entrance and exit, a microdermal uses an anchor with one visible top. This creates a different effect from a surface bar, which has two visible ends. The proposed site needs individual assessment rather than being chosen solely from a photo. Explain where you would like it and whether your idea involves one anchor or several. Microdermal piercing is also different from the biohacking implants mentioned elsewhere on our website, which require a separate enquiry.

Is this placement right for you?

Consider anything that might catch the visible top, including clothing, towels, jewellery or sports equipment. Its lifespan varies, and ongoing fit and placement checks matter. Ask what ongoing checks involve and how removal would be handled if you no longer want it. Do not assume the anchor can be taken out and reinserted like an earring. Contact the studio to confirm age, ID and consent requirements and the total cost for multiple anchors before booking.

Jewellery and what is included

The listed €40 price includes basic jewellery. Discuss the anchor and visible top separately so you understand what can be changed later and what should stay in place. Ask which decorative upgrades are suitable for your proposed location, and confirm their prices before selecting one.

Looking after your piercing

Keep the area clean and take care around towels and clothing so they do not catch the top. Ask the studio how to maintain the space beneath the visible end. Have a piercer handle jewellery changes or removal rather than trying to lift out the anchor yourself.

Follow the instructions given for your individual piercing. Ask the studio about any fit checks or jewellery changes during healing.

Microdermal Piercing: your questions

Is a microdermal the same as a surface piercing?

They are different constructions. A microdermal has one visible top attached to an anchor, while a surface piercing normally has two ends connected under the skin. The studio can explain which, if either, suits your proposed location.

Can I remove a microdermal whenever I want?

Its anchor sits beneath the skin, so removal is different from taking out ordinary piercing jewellery. Contact the studio for advice and professional assessment; do not try to pull the anchor out yourself.
